ECM on iTunes
Monday, November 28, 2005 @ 4:07pm

The ECM label has been home to many of my favorite recordings, including some of the best stuff by jazz guitarist Pat Metheny and composer Arvo Pärt. ECM released some trial albums on iTunes to gauge the system, and has now proceeded to put a bulk of their collection there, meaning that I can now link to my very favorite music.

ECM's Rarum series showcases the best of an artist, as gauged by that artist. And Pat Metheny's compilation includes many of my very favorite tunes, including the original recordings of Are You Going With Me?, Phase Dance, and of course, The First Circle. If you want a sampling of one of the only artist whose entire collection I have collected (and concerts I don't miss), you won't do better than this $9.99.

The ECM recording of Arvo Pärt's Te Deum is about as extraordinary as contemporary choral music gets. ECM hasn't put Arbos on iTunes yet, which is probably my favorite of the ensemble recordings to date.
